Homework should be a time for children to consolidate work they have done in school. Homework should be completed Monday to Friday and take no more than 20 minutes. If your child is unable to complete their homework in this time, please notify their classroom teacher. Try to get your child into a routine whereby homework is an enjoyable, stress-free experience for all.

- To encourage regular reading habits and to practise the skills that your child has learnt with their teacher, your child needs to read a book every night. This may be a book he/she has read that day in class or it may be a familiar book or poem. Please record the books read in your child’s Home Reading Log.
- Usually on a Friday, your child will bring home their poem book to share.
- In addition to nightly reading, your child may have basic words to learn. Once they can quickly say these words they can learn to write them. Please refer to the Homework card in the book bag to follow the homework guidelines for letter and number formation.
- From time to time, the Religious Education book will be sent home for your child to complete work. Please take the time to discuss the strand they are covering and write a comment in the book.
